Housed within the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences, the Certificate program is an interdisciplinary exploration of complex social issues through academic coursework and volunteer engagement.
Whether you volunteer with a local community agency, or run a campaign to raise awareness of a social justice issue you're passionate about, you get to map out the courses and engagement opportunities that will help you to critically reflect on your learning and develop the skills and knowledge you need as a global citizen.
The Certificate is open to all registered undergraduate students in any program who have completed a minimum of 4.0 credits. The Program is designed for students to start in either their second or third year.
- 1.00 credits of required coursework: UNIV*2410, UNIV*4410
- 1.50 credits of restricted electives chosen from three topic areas: Community Engagement and Politics, Diversity and Power and, World Issues.
- 120 hours of volunteer engagement while registered as a University of Guelph student. You may be eligible to count up to 60 hours of volunteer experience completed prior to taking UNIV*2410.
